On this page you will find all the resources for the Confirmation programme including any recordings of the sessions.
With Fr Stephen having to self-isolate, this time Fr Andrew talked about Saints, and the need for us to choose a Confirmation name and sponsor.
Before our next session in September, please complete the short homework exercise you were given (to choose a Confirmation name and sponsor). This was given to you if you came to church for this session, if you were self-isolating or have lost the homework sheet you can complete it online.
To be invited to be a sponsor is always a great honour. It brings with it certain responsibilities because the sponsor represents the Church, which is calling down God’s gifts and blessings on those who are to be confirmed.
The Church asks sponsors to become actively involved in the spiritual growth of those whom they are sponsoring by:
This means, therefore, that a sponsor should be a person who is in regular contact and is involved in the life of the person who is to be confirmed. In this way, continuing support and encouragement can be given.
You should only accept the invitation to be a sponsor if you are sincerely prepared to accept these responsibilities.
As a sponsor you represent the whole community, therefore you MUST be a CONFIRMED and ACTIVE MEMBER of the Catholic Church and over the age of 16.
Fr Stephen, Fr Andrew and Kath talked about the seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit - Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel/Right Judgment, Fortitude/Courage, Knowledge, Piety/Reverence, Fear of the Lord/Wonder and Awe.
If you were not able to attend, please contact the the Fr's or Kath via the Parish Office or at Sunday Mass for a copy of the session.
Other than the first session, only the candidates need to attend, preferably in-person but online if self-isolating.
For now, all sessions are in church at St Kentigern's so we can be socially distant and 'stay safe'. All sessions start at 6pm and last approximately 1 hour.
We're really looking forward to seeing you all again soon. God bless and keep safe.
